American Red Cross - Each week, many Hendricks County residents rely on American Red Cross transportation to get to dialysis, chemotherapy and other medically related appointments. Area volunteer drivers are needed to provide this free service. Volunteers drive Red Cross vehicles, and shifts are flexible. There is no lifting or carrying, although some clients require minimal assistance. Drivers must have training in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, which Red Cross will provide for free. Volunteers must be 18, have a valid driver's license and a good driving record. To volunteer or for more information, call Brad Schleppi at 1-317-684-4331. For additional information please visit us at http://www.redcross-indy.org/cs/trans.asp.

Sycamore Services, Inc., is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization devoted to making a difference in our community by offering individually designed services to adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and other conditions that can limit participation in life’s daily activities. We strive to assist the individuals we serve in the development of their talents and abilities, to enable them to exercise their rights as citizens and engage in meaningful pursuits in the communities we serve.

Dyslexia Institute of Indiana exists to serve children, adolescents, and adults with specific language disabilities. Beginning with the student at the center, DII serves elements of the community that touch the life of the student. DII provides skills, services, and strategies that enable individuals to attain their full potential by learning to manage the challenges of dyslexia and benefit from its advantages. Check out the website or call 317-222-6635 for more information.

Hendricks County Community Foundation is a vehicle for people of all means to make a difference in the greater Hendricks County community. The Community Foundation does this by providing donors with flexible, efficient, and tax-effective ways to ensure their charitable giving achieves the greatest possible impact.

Sheltering Wings provides emergency housing for women and children suffering from physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. They provide a supportive and nurturing Christ-centered environment, with the goal of reaching emotional and economic stability.

Hendricks College Network is an educational network that provides unlimited post-secondary learning opportunities to the people of Hendricks County and surrounding areas. Project A.N.G.E.L. (Area Neighbors Giving Extra Love) is a not for profit organization which helps provide life’s basic needs and Christmas to the less fortunate children in Hendricks County. We operate solely on donations from individuals and businesses. Project A.N.G.E.L. is run by a board of nine people and hundreds of volunteers. There are no paid positions. Over twenty years ago, members of the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department saw the need for a service that could provide Christmas to needy children and families in Hendricks County. Since then we have grown to help year round with school supplies, heat, and other special circumstances. We also present scholarships to high school seniors in Hendricks County who have provided Project A.N.G.E.L. with endless hours of service. We feel Project A.N.G.E.L. has the potential of becoming and effective alternative to the lacking or diminishing state and federal emergency funding for those citizens in dire need of help.

Leadership Hendricks County  Since 1993, Leadership Hendricks County has given citizens the background and inside information they need to take on effective leadership roles in Hendricks County community.  A new class of 20 to 25 participants is selected each year from a list of applicants. In January, they participate in an Opening Retreat, at which they learn more about themselves, leadership styles, and the challenges facing the county. In addition, they are assigned to a Team Discovery project that addresses a current need.  Each month they meet as a group to learn more about a facet of life in Hendricks County - everything from the educational system to how the jail operates. In November, they convene for a Closing Retreat to review what they've learned and present their Team Discovery projects.  Along the way, they learn that leaders aren't an elite class of people. They're ordinary citizens who step up to help their communities, churches, organizations and workplaces accomplish what needs to be done. And upon graduating, they become part of an ever-growing Network of Leaders serving Hendricks County.

Susie's Place  Utilizing a joint investigative team approach, Children’s Advocacy Centers are facility-based community partnerships dedicated to pursuing the truth in child abuse investigations. Professionals work as a multidisciplinary team to investigate and intervene in cases of suspected child abuse, primarily sexual abuse. This multidisciplinary team approach brings together all the professionals and agencies needed to offer comprehensive services: law enforcement, child protective services, prosecution, victim advocates, forensic interviewers, mental-health and the medical community. Attention to the needs and abilities of children is the hallmark of a Children’s Advocacy Center. Designed as a safe and welcoming place for children to be heard, CACs ensure that children are not further victimized by the interventions intended to protect them.
