Avon, IN—The Avon-Washington Township Public Library (AWTPL) is excited to announce that it has received a $4,000 Arts Project Support (APS) Grant from the Indianapolis Arts Commission in partnership with Noblesville Creates, with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts. This APS grant will fund a series of eight arts programs called “Crafting Connections” for tweens, teens, and adults at the Avon Library in 2026. This funding allows AWTPL to bring professional art teachers to Washington Township directly benefiting patrons who otherwise would not have easy access to art classes such as these, including seniors and home school students. Art brings people together, and the goals of Crafting Connections are that participants will create and deepen friendships with their neighbors as well as learn new skills, build confidence, and be inspired to create more artwork. Art classes are the perfect place to strike up a conversation with a neighbor or a friend.

PROM DRESS SALE

unnamed - 2026-01-26T091050.539

The annual Prom Sale sponsored by the Avon High School Interact Club and its partner Rotary Club of Avon is scheduled for Saturday, March 14. All high school girls are welcome to come and shop. The cost is low because the goal is simple: Make high school prom affordable for all! Additionally, all funds raised go directly to support the programs of Sheltering Wings, a domestic abuse shelter located in Danville.

To make the sale successful, the sponsors are soliciting donations of prom dresses, shoes and accessories from February 9 through March 9. Drop off sites are Cass & Co Salon, 7374 Business Center Dr., Avon and Avon High School at Door #29. Only one month of collection. So, get those closets cleaned out now and drop off your donation to support the high school shoppers and the residents of Sheltering Wings.

On the day of the sale, all shoppers are invited to enter Door #29 on the southeast corner of AHS from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The prices are $10 for dresses, $2 for shoes, and $1 for each accessory. Cash, checks and credit cards are welcomed.
