FACTS AND FIGURES
Government and Services
Administration: Avon's town council of five members hold
terms of four years. We also have a Town Manager and an elected
Cleck-Treasurer. As a town rather than a city, we do not have
a Mayor.
Planning and Zoning: There is both a town Planning Board
as well as a county Planning Board. We also have a Building
Commissioner and a Zoning Appeals Board.
Law Enforcement: Avon has a police chief and 13 full-time
officers.
Fire Protection: Our fire chief directs two fire stations
with 27 Firefighter/EMTs and 18 Firefighter/Paramedics. Our
fire departments have ten units of apparatus, including rescue
and ambulances. A third fire station is being planned for future
construction.
Waste Removal: Private firms provide this service. Residential
communities are not restricted to use of a particular firm.
Sewage: Avon utilizes a conservancy district to control waste
water treatment.
