Applebee’s employees are
coming together this Fourth of July to
celebrate our nation’s birthday and to
support those who make our freedom
possible. On Wednesday, July 1;
Thursday, July 2; Wednesday, July 7; and
Thursday, July 8; 32 central Indiana
Applebee’s restaurants will host Dining
to Donate (D2D) fundraising events to
benefit AdoptaPlatoon, a non-profit
organization that seeks to provide a
better quality of life for deployed U.S.
military troops. On those four days,
Applebee’s will donate 15% of food
purchases to this worthy cause –
specifically Army Platoon A-BTRY 2/29 –
when guests present a special
AdoptaPlatoon D2D flyer.
“As we get ready to
celebrate Independence Day, it’s
important to remember the brave men and
women who continue to make significant
sacrifices for our country by serving
overseas,” said Monty Davis, market
president of Apple American Group, LLC,
operators of the Indianapolis area
Applebee’s restaurants. “It’s our duty
to support them while they are defending
our freedom.”
Those wishing to
participate in this event can request a
D2D flyer by visiting or calling any of
the 32 neighborhood Applebee’s
locations. With the money raised,
deployed soldiers will receive care
packages with much needed items for
survival.
Also during these dates,
Applebee’s will offer the opportunity to
send a “THANK YOU SALUTE” to an active
service member. For a $2 donation, each
message will be sent directly to
currently deployed troops to help say
“Thank you” to those who guard our
freedom.

this program, media may contact Fabby
Andrzejczyk, Apple American Group LLC

Sheltering Wings will host
an informational workshop
about domestic violence on
July 13, 2009 from
7:00-8:00pm. The training
will be held in the
Brownsburg Town Court at the
Police Department, 31 N.
Green Street in Brownsburg,
Indiana.
The workshop will include
the following topics: signs
to look for, why people
stay, affects on children,
why people batter, what you
can do and resources
available for families in
need. Everyone in our
community is invited to
attend. Safety cards, mirror
decals, brochures and other
materials will be offered.
Sheltering Wings provides
emergency housing for women
and their dependent children
suffering from any form of
domestic abuse, and is the
only shelter of its kind in
Hendricks County. Since
opening its doors in January
of 2002 more than 800
children and 700 women have
called the shelter home. Our
goal is to help women become
financially and emotionally
independent while acquiring
knowledge about resources
available to help them care
for themselves and their
families. We offer the
children age-appropriate
services, educational groups
and access to therapy to
help them recover from the
abuse
they have endured or
witnessed. Our 24-hour
crisis line is answered by
trained staff who provide
immediate access to safety
and services.
For more information about
this workshop or about the
shelter, please call

Way agency.
Water, water everywhere; so
why do we not drink?
How does hydration play a
part in our total health?
What does it mean to be
dehydrated? How much is
enough to drink in a day?
The answers to these and a
flood of other water-related
issue will come to light on
Thursday, July 9th
at The Hearth at Prestwick’s
hydration clinic.
We all know we should drink
lots of water and heaven
knows, it’s available
everywhere. Public water
drinking fountains used to
be the answer to thirst away
from home; now everyone
carries a bottle of water.
The Hearth at Prestwick is
hosting the clinic, free to
the public on Thursday, July
9th at 7:00 p.m.
The Hearth is located at 182
S. CR 550 E, just 1.5 miles
west of SR 267 on Rockville.
Road in Avon. Everyone who
attends will receive an
insulated water bottle
carrier to remind them of
the importance of drinking
water. Call 745-266 to
register or for more
information. |
