Dr. Charles Thomas, the master of fine wine making in Indiana, will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of his winery, Chateau Thomas, on Friday January 23rd and Saturday, January 24th.
Dr. Thomas, the former Indianapolis OB/GYN who delivered over 7000 babies during his medical career, took up making wine as a hobby 38 years ago. After traveling to Napa for years to study the art of winemaking from California experts, he opened Chateau Thomas on the south side of Indianapolis in 1984. In 1997, it moved to its present location in Plainfield. Over the past 25 years, Dr. Thomas has garnered over 500 medals for his wines entered in international competition.
The weekend-long celebration will kick off on Friday, January 23rd when you can wine down and dance to the sounds of Steve Elston. The Dane Clark Band highlights the weekend with a performance on Saturday, January 24th. Clark tours with John Mellencamp and is one of the winery’s regular performers.
There will be wine tastings, special wine discounts and a Limited Edition Anniversary Wine released for this special occasion. Dr. Thomas will be on hand both evenings to autograph these wines for wine enthusiasts.

There is no admission charge for Friday Wine Down with Steve Elston, or the Dane Clark concert. Reservations are not required, but encouraged since seating for both events will be limited. A casual dining menu will be available from 6-9PM and the performances will be 7-10PM both evenings.
The Chateau Thomas 25th Anniversary Celebration begins at the Chateau Thomas Wine Bar in Nashville on Thursday, January 22nd when Dr. Thomas will conduct tastings from 7-9PM
Chateau Thomas Winery is open every day and is located just west of the airport, off I-70 West at Exit 66 in Plainfield. The Wine Bar is located in Coachlight Square on the south side of Nashville.

High school juniors have a chance to join other Indiana youth on a trip of a lifetime.  Applications are now available for the 2009 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour to Washington, D.C.  Indiana's Touchstone Energy cooperatives have hosted the Youth Tour since 1960, providing hundreds of young Hoosiers the opportunity to visit our nation's capital and learn about the federal government and the cooperative utility industry. The trip begins on June 11, 2009 in Indianapolis and ends on June 18, 2009.

According to Donnis Mizelle, CEO of Hendricks Power Cooperative, the Indiana delegation will be approximately 75 students from throughout the state, each selected by a local Touchstone Energy cooperative.  In 2008, nearly 1,500 students from around the country were in Washington for the conference.

"Hendricks Power Cooperative is pleased to provide this opportunity for local students," Mizelle said.  "It's a great trip and a wonderful chance to see the sights, make new friends and learn how everyone, even young people, can make a difference in the political process."

The Indiana delegation will meet in Indianapolis on Thursday, June 11 to get acquainted and learn about the Indiana legislative process.  The students will depart early on Friday and spend their first evening in Gettysburg, PA.  On Saturday they will tour the Gettysburg National Battlefield, spend the afternoon in Baltimore's Inner Harbor and arrive in Washington, D.C. that evening.  Sunday through Wednesday is a full schedule of sight-seeing, speakers, visits to the National Memorials, a collection of museums, and a night cruise on the Potomac River.

Students will participate in a Monday morning "Youth Tour Rally," where they will share their thoughts and opinions on a variety of timely issues.  This will prepare them for a busy Tuesday on Capitol Hill, when Indiana's students will visit with representatives of Indiana's Congressional delegation.  The week will end on a high note with the "All-States Dinner Dance" at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City.

For more information about the 2009 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour to Washington, D.C., or to receive an application, contact Heather Thompson at 317.718.7642, visit our website www.hendrickspower.com or Indiana's electric cooperative website at www.indremcs.org in the section entitled "Youth Tour."
