Upcoming events
Avon Relay for Life has added an exciting entertainment item for people of the community to enjoy.  Jimmy Ryser will perform a FREE concert for the community on Saturday, May 17 at 1:30pm.  The Avon Relay is May 17 & 18 from 10am-10am at the Avon Intermediate School East track just south of 36 on the west side of 267.  Relay is the signature event for the American Cancer Society and is a 24 hour event in which teams of people share the burden of walking for 24 hours to raise money in the fight against cancer.  The teams and the committee have put together many activities for the community to enjoy while they come out to visit the Relay event. "Business attire for the professional woman with a practical Twist" will be the theme for the annual Hendricks County Professional Business Women style show presented on Tuesday, May 27, 6:30 p.m., at the Danville Friends Church, CR 200 W, Danville.  The ticket price of $15 includes a catered dinner.  Tickets are available at the Curves for Women in Avon, Brownsburg and Danville or call 373-0062 for reservations.  Proceeds of this event will benefit the Professional Business Women's scholarship fund.  See you there!

The Radio Controlled Sailboat Regatta has been scheduled for May 17, 10:30am-3:30pm at the Town Hall Park.  The event is sponsored by Sebree Architects.  More information can be found at www.indyadmirals.org.


A bowl-a-thon fundraising event will be held Friday May 16th at the Brownsburg Bowling Center to raise funds for the Danville Relay for Life.  Fees for the Bowl-a-thon are $30 per person or $125 for a lane for 5.  This includes 2 hours of bowling, shoe rental and a pizza buffet.  Bowling begins at 7:00 PM.  Lane sponsorships are also available.

Relay for Life is sponsored by the American Cancer Society..  Danville’s Relay for Life will be held at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds on June 14-15.  The bowl-a-thon is sponsored by “Norm’s Nomads” a relay team that is in memory of a team family member, Norman Roberts who lost his battle with cancer in June of 2007.


Registration is now open for this year’s Danville Rotary Club “Harold Martin Golf Open” benefiting Sycamore Services, Inc. to be held on May 22, 2008 at Twin Bridges Golf Club.   Registration is at 11:00 am with shotgun start at 12:00 noon. Player fees for the event are $85 per person with various levels of sponsorships available.  For more information or to register, visit www.sycamoreservices.com.

The format is a 2 person/alternating shot teams.  Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place as well as longest drive and closest to the pin.  Major sponsors for the event are Hendricks Regional Health, Mayberry Café, Sycamore Printing and Dugan Chevrolet/Pontiac sponsoring a “Hole in One” contest.

In conjunction with the outing, raffle tickets are available through any Danville Rotarian for a chance to win a 42” Samsung Plasma TV donated by Hendricks Regional Health.

Sycamore Services, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit agency that provides programs and services to individuals of all ages with developmental disabilities or delays and other life challenges in central Indiana with facilities in Hendricks, Morgan, Marion and Vanderburgh Counties in Indiana.

Be Green! Fest 2008 on May 10th at Metropolis in Plainfield.  This free, family-oriented event is a great way for kids and adults to learn more about opportunities to “Be Green!” where we live, work and play. More Information.

Our community is important to us.  In order to give back to our neighbors, Cass & Company Salon introduces FEEL GOOD FRIDAYS!  Every Friday in May, Cass & Company Salon will donate 10% of existing clients total service dollars to Avon Education Foundation!  For new guests who book appointments for Fridays throughout May and identify themselves as being associated with Avon Education Foundation, we’ll donate 20% of their services!  In addition to the donation, a promotional retail item will be available each Friday at a discount to guests as an added bonus!
