Assisting in the planning and design of religious facilities is a rewarding process and one that Banning Engineering enjoys performing. One of the challenges for this market is the lack of an overall understanding of the critical elements involved in the total process. These elements include but are not necessarily restricted to: master planning – looking at the needs of the past, present, and future in order to develop a phased plan to meet the needs of today and tomorrow; hiring design and construction team members and knowing what the expectations should be; options for the various methods that are available for both the design and construction of religious facilities; today’s environmental issues; and financing options.

On Thursday, April 17, 2008, Banning Engineering is hosting an all-day seminar at Serendipity Metropolis titled, “Master
Planning & Constructing Religious Facilities”. Banning Engineering is teaming with arcDESIGN (architects), Patterson-Horth (contractors), and JFNew (environmental consultants) to present an objective and informative step-by-step look at this complete process. John Wiggins, who has served as an elder at Plainfield Christian Church for 25 years, will also provide some insight into the area of financing possibilities for religious facility projects. To learn more about this seminar, you can visit Banning Engineering’s web site at www.BanningEngineering.com or call Steve Craney at 317-707-3747.

The 5th annual Spring Tour of Senior Assisted Living Communities will be held on Saturday, April 19th from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Each spring, the Westside Assisted Living Marketers Group hosts a tour of assisted living communities in Hendricks County and West Marion County.   This is an opportunity for folks to visit several communities in one day as they learn about senior communities and their services.

In all, 8 senior communities participate in this tour, including Club Roland Manor and Brownsburg Meadows in Brownsburg, Roland’s Golden Memories in Plainfield; in Avon: Park Square Manor, The Hearth at Prestwick, and Villages of Avon; and in western Marion County, Summit Place West and Westside Garden Plaza.

Those visiting 3 locations or more may be entered in a drawing to win $250 VISA gift card sponsored by Hendricks Regional Health, plus other door prizes.  A day of getting to know the communities in which you have interest will also include great food and entertainment.

Events this weekend
Indianapolis is the first stop in the five city tour of Operation Care Package 24/7. Sgt. Klay South, OCP 24/7’s president, felt a need to take his organization to the road to raise awareness and gift package donation for the 76th brigade. Two different location stops are scheduled for Greenwood and Avon, IN.
This March marks the largest deployment of the Indiana National Guard (76th Brigade) since World War II. “We will have a banner for the deployment of these troops at each stop to show each city’s support. Everyone who donates will be signing that banner that we’re going to send off to them”, says Sgt. South.
The tour will take place in the parking lot at a Wal-Mart in each named city and will kick off in Indy on Friday, March 28th and continue through April 14th. The goal is to supply each soldier with two care packages per month while they’re deployed. That means that for a nine month deployment time, each city must total 12,200 care packages. The tour means a great deal to Sgt. South, who was critically wounded as a marine on his second tour in Iraq. “I know what these guys are going through, so that’s why it means so much to me. I want the 76th Brigade to feel like the heroes they are”.
