Government and Services
Administration: Avon's town council of five members hold terms of four years. We also have a Town Manager and an elected Clerk-Treasurer. As a town rather than a city, we do not have a Mayor.
Planning and Zoning: Avon has both a town Planning Board as well as a county Planning Board. We also have a Building Commissioner and a Zoning Appeals Board.
Law Enforcement: Avon has a police chief and 21 full-time officers.
Fire Protection: Our fire chief directs two fire stations with 27 Firefighter/EMTs and 18 Firefighter/Paramedics. Our fire departments have ten units of apparatus, including rescue and ambulances. A third fire station is being planned for future construction.

Waste Removal: Private firms provide this service. Residential communities are not restricted to use of a particular firm. Sewage: Avon utilizes a conservancy district to control waste water treatment.
