American Red Cross Each week, many Hendricks County residents rely on American Red Cross transportation to get to dialysis, chemotherapy and other medically related appointments. Area volunteer drivers are needed to provide this free service. Volunteers drive Red Cross vehicles, and shifts are flexible. There is no lifting or carrying, although some clients require minimal assistance. Drivers must have training in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, which Red Cross will provide for free. Volunteers must be 18, have a valid driver's license and a good driving record. To volunteer or for more information, call Brad Schleppi at 1-317-684-4331. Project A.N.G.E.L. (Area Neighbors Giving Extra Love) is a not for profit organization which helps provide life’s basic needs and Christmas to the less fortunate children in Hendricks County.  We operate solely on donations from individuals and businesses.  Project A.N.G.E.L. is run by a board of nine people and hundreds of volunteers.  There are no paid positions.  Over twenty years ago, members of the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department saw the need for a service that could provide Christmas to needy children and families in Hendricks County.  Since then we have grown to help year round with school supplies, heat, and other special circumstances.  We also present scholarships to high school seniors in Hendricks County who have provided Project A.N.G.E.L. with endless hours of service.  We feel Project A.N.G.E.L. has the potential of becoming and effective alternative to the lacking or diminishing state and federal emergency funding for those citizens in dire need of help.
